HQMC has dug its fangs into the floorboard and continue with this Marine Littoral Regiment bullshit despite the Navy OBVIOUSLY having decided that it makes no sense to purchase ANY stern landing ships when the MLR provides less firepower than an additional Burke or perhaps a couple of frigates. Add the idea of "sensing and making sense" for the joint force when better options are available that don't require putting Marine units in the line of fire without any plausible means of extraction ALONG WITH the MLR needing host nations to approve its deployment to be of any use and it should be apparent to all (INCLUDING THE INCOMING SECDEF) that this idea is a can of shit in a shiny wrapper.

So, does that mean both (jet-powered & nuclear-powered) are depicted here? It would appear so; with the forward section/stage being nuclear-powered and the aft (it also being delta-winged) section/stage being jet-powered. At least that's what I think I'm seeing.

 

So, that makes the below linked image quite plausible as being that of the same vehicle, after its release/launch from the carrier aircraft.

 

Finally, based on the block letters he used for his "signature", I think this is an early work by John Sentovic. Regardless, my date range is a total SWAG.

 

Lastly & most inconsequentially, note the bubble canopy of the carrier aircraft, not unlike that of Convair's B-36 "Peacemaker" bomber.

I heard it was rough on the recruiting trail but it must be Mt Suribachi rough if they're making skits like this!

Rant (real short). Executive Orders & Presidential Pardons

 Executive Orders.

I don't know where this came from but I don't recall it being taught in civics classes. I see it as being almost dictatorial and wonder why Congress isn't fighting about its loss of power OR the US people up in arms about it.  You wanna make a change?  Get Congress to write a bill.  Politic for it.  Work for it.  But don't use your office to make changes because you think the changes need to be made.  I'm seeing too many work arounds when it comes to how our govt functions.  Biden used them like a madman and now Trump is about to.  From my chair?  Fuck your party this shit is disturbing.

Presidential Pardons.

Ordinarily this one has been benign to me.  Lately its getting out of hand.  Biden is about to preemptively pardon several people?  Why?  It smacks of shenanigans. 

TLDR?

In many ways our govt is broken but these two are what I point to and say hold up. We gotta do better and hold leadership accountable.  The fact that we had a ZOMBIE president for the majority of his term should cause us all to pause.  That means we had bureaucrats running the country.  No matter how big a net you cast you can't catch them all.

American companies get the same info that they say the Chinese are collecting and they're selling it to all sorts of outfits.

No one cares.

But I'm suppose to be up in arms because the Chinese have an app (one that I don't use) that does the same thing?  Like they really give a fuck what 99% of Americans are up to on the net?

They have penetrated our water supply, our electrical distribution plants, our medical records, our defense dept, they've been inside most of our critical infrastructure and I'm supposed to be worried about the private data they're hunting on the 1%?

If this was the case then the current President wouldn't have been outside, the campaigning would have been drastically different etc...What they should have been worried about I continue to scream about at the top of my lungs is that a disciplined & motivated squad of attackers could have the entire security establishment on their back foot in the DC region. The USMC and even the US Army is BATSHIT FUCKING STUPID to think that they can do anything in a naval fight except oppose enemy landing or conduct amphibious assaults!

One Burke or Type 52 much less that MONSTER Type 55 has more VLS launchers which means missiles than the entire USMC MLR or their US Army equivalent.

Which explains why the Navy is slow walking the Landing Ship Medium.  The entire Force Design concept does NOT MAKE SENSE!  Add in the fact that we will be depending on host nations sponsoring us and you have idiocy on a plate.

The Navy saw it before the Marine Corps.

They ran the numbers and saw that the MLRs are gonna be basically useless.  Reality hasn't arrived at HQMC or maybe it has.  Pride is a motherfucker and backing away from this cluster is gonna take serious skill.

Almost destroying the Marine Corps from within without trashing your legacy is gonna be hardwork.

Berger is screwed.  Smith might be screwed harder because he continued with it.
