I don't know what games are being played with people's lives in the Middle East but I do know that games are being played. These strikes and counter strikes by Iran and Israel are nothing but theater. I have never seen a SERIOUS military force telegraph an attack as well as the Israelis have but here we are. If they were serious they would have taken out nuclear facilities. They didn't. If they wanted to cripple Iran's economy they would have gone after their oil and port facilities. They didn't. Hamas is dogshit and the Palestinian people are stupid as fuck for following them but the Palestinians should be advised. They're suffering for people that don't give a fuck. Its readily apparent that NONE of the Arab nations actually care and the same can be said of the Persians. They're a tool and Gaza is the battlefield.

Are wheeled IFV/APC an evolutionary dead end???

 

Using this as an example only.  A Leopard MBT next to a Boxer IFV.

Have forces around the world globbed onto a concept just for shits and giggles and haven't actually looked at the combat performance of the thing?

I'm looking at the wheeled IFV trend.

The vehicles are freaking huge.  They're touted as having the same cross country performance of tracked vehicles cross country but most nations are still supplementing them with tracked IFVs.

From what I've seen (and I might be wrong) they're rather awkward in urban environments and the inability to skid steer is definitely a weak spot.

Their main advantage is in long range travel and higher ground clearance for added mine resistance.

But the threat has changed.  Mines are so "war on terror" and the next war will probably be a drone and direct/indirect fire fuck fest.

For US ground forces in particular its a huge risk to depend on wheels when maneuver is the mantra used by everyone.

Mobility kills or denied terrain due to the capability of your force is a deadly thing.

Power for the electrolysis process would have been taken from the carrier's nuclear reactor: 112MW would have been required to produce 1150t of oxygen and 164t of hydrogen from 1470t of water. The rocketships would be stored inside hangars. One Ithacus Jr. would serve as a troop carrier while the other would deploy unmanned cargo to the same military site. Even better, and it puts Mr. Bono’s concepts into orderly context. If anywhere near accurate, this is superlative actually:

Gorgeous work by Ted Brown, a supremely talented, unheralded (as were most contractor artists of the time), and sadly/most likely, marginalized yet further.

Unfortunately, a huge LOSS this time. A wonderful tribute by Angela Carole Brown, Mr. Brown’s daughter, is no longer at the following website, which I’ve linked to in the past.

However, I believe/am hoping the current owner of the website is one in the same, as she mentions her father being an artist. Although there's no additional information provided regarding him or his contributions.

This one hurts, the wonderfully composed ‘obituary’ had additional photos, to include of the artist, and captured what the man was made of…basically, his legacy. AARGH:

Ukraine is about to get interesting.

I wanna see how the N. Koreans perform on the battlefield.  I wanna see the reaction from the EU, NATO and the US.  I wanna see if this changes the equation when it comes to fighting in the winter.

The hawks are gonna scream for full NATO involvement (witness the comments) while the sensible are gonna be seeking ways of turning this off (China/Brazil peace proposal).

Either way this is gonna hit JUST in time for the Presidential election (already voted so it won't influence me at all).

When this war is over I would luv to read how the Ukrainians were able to penetrate Russia and kill so many high ranking officers. The weird thing? I hope our military and NOT law enforcement officials are studying this thing. Can you imagine how many of our flag officers could get got if we were to actually fight someone serious? Our only saving grace is that we have so many generals that you could kill 3/4ths of them and it wouldn't affect our combat efficiency.
