The USMC is becoming a coast defense force while the Chinese Marine Corps is becoming expeditionary....A 1,500t Type-056A corvette, followed by a 7,500t Type-052D destroyer, followed by a 40,000t Type-075 LHD [1250 x 1073]

WE ARE NOT READY!

The Chinese are building a worldwide Marine Corps able to deploy to every clime and place ALONG WITH a hyper powerful surface fleet that MIGHT be able to withstand the assault of a carrier battle group (remember the Soviets built less ships, LESS CAPABLE ships with the idea of taking out carriers).

This is why the Pentagon is pushing deterrence so hard.  If the Chinese do fight us and even if we fight to a draw (with heavy losses on both sides), they'll be able to  rebuild so fast that we don't stand a chance when they decide for round two.

Which of course means that if it becomes apparent to all (like it has to me) then fighting round one makes no sense.

North American Rescue Accused of Falsely Selling Chinese Supplies to the Americans and the DOD

The UK appears to be headed toward a serious civil incident against its govt. Are Force Protection officers keeping an eye on thing in Europe?

I walk into the SCIF at IIMEF and I bet I could pull up all kinds of plans to reinforce or evacuate bases all over the globe...except for Europe.

I've been watching some of the drama coming out of the UK and to a lesser extent the rest of Europe and things are getting beyond spicy.

We have several big bases over there.

What happens if things pop off in a big way?  What happens if "yankee go home" becomes part of the dynamic?

Are we prepared to reinforce those bases AGAINST not the enemy but against pissed off civilians in those countries?  How do you even do such a thing?

Of course the instant answer that every officer would give is that you "work with partner nations and depend on them to provide outside the gates security".  But what if they overwhelmed?  What happens if the gates are breached?  What about our nukes?

Bad look to be mowing down civilians cause they stumbled across the wrong building and are gonna pay with their lives (no matter how justified).

I just hope someone is watching this stuff cause Germany, the UK, Italy, France, Romania and a number of other countries appear ready to pop from my chair.

The Japanese have built in fire suppression in case of wild fires. We can't we?

If we no longer innovate then at least learn from other cultures! The Japanese are showing us the way. Why aren't we listening? There are tons of other examples too. If our govt is in the way via regulation then we need to move the bastards OUT the way!

My view of the cold...

Yes!

I have been to the darkside.

I have gone thru all the steps and in the end I have suffered on the side of a mountain. NEVER AGAIN!

Real deal hero stuff. Floods are no joke and will kill you quick...

Chicago is getting crazier and crazier...

Is it just me or is the societal response to California different to the hurricane in the Carolinas?

The title is the question.

Is it different?

I know the perception around my way is.  The view is that the US govt didn't help the "country folk" while they're ready to help the rich in California.  I personally don't know real from memorex on this.

What I do know is that the reaction to the disasters from the public is different and I'd like to know why.

Even a little (by Northern standards) snow in the South is a big problem!

I blame the humidity for making the cold down here feeling worse at 30 than it does in the upper US. Cold and damp all the time sucks. Thank God for central heating! Oh and since we seem to have a cold weather train developing it might be time to get ready for those periodic ice storms by buying that stand by generator I've been talking about for years.

Good God those little fucks are fast.

An American Marine going hand to hand with his Chinese counterpart should be interesting. The Corps I knew kinda emphasized physical power and endurance. The nations dotting the Pacific emphasize dexterity, flexibility and quickness (along with endurance). In a real fight it will come down to the mental strength of the combatants along with skill, strength, endurance, etc....

I LUV Texas Roadhouse. Do I need to avoid them now???

I need more info. Where is she? Where is the location that she did this madness? Any other employees engaged in this idiocy? I NEED TO KNOW OR I'M OUT!

This infuriates me so much. How many of you remember the USMC initiative to get self driving vehicles and how they partnered with Oshkosh to come out with an unmanned MTVR?

The US military in general and the Marine Corps in particular could have had a whole new set up.

More Marines could be reassigned and Motor T MOS reduced a bit (same number of mechanics I imagine but drivers would decline).  Additionally for all the talk of shaping the force and right sizing MOS' this was a missed opportunity.

But what I consider the most infuriating is that the military did most of the development work and then just tossed it off to the vehicle manufacturers (and Chinese it would appear) and now they're running with it while we still have Marines using game controllers to guide our unmanned vehicles.

Rant over but it just pisses me off.

This is the wildest conspiracy theory I've seen yet. Consider what was once considered a "conspiracy theory" can we fully rule it out?

Centauro II in Brazil undergoing some tests

VBM Freccia plus

Looks like the VBM is a SuperAV dedicated to land combat only. I treally thought the Freccia (don't quite know the designation but the beast that is totally classed as a mobile gun system or modern day tank destroyer) was gonna be the basis of their next APC/IFV. Obviously something happened and they're going this way instead. I knda like it.

I always wondered why someone didn't enter into a development agreement with Lockheed and build a two engine F-16 with bigger wings, heavier payload and supercruise. I'm thinking this Taiwanese example is the best old skool attempt while the new build Turkish build is the best new skool win.
